Video of Golden Retriever Puppy Getting His First Set of Teeth Is Everything

Anyone who survived the “land shark” phase knows that puppy breath and needle-sharp teeth are a package deal. Chief, the self-proclaimed “Happiness Specialist” from @goodboygolden, recently had to navigate that exact milestone.

In the video, the Golden Retriever puppy is 15 weeks old, and officially in the thick of his teething journey. His mom captured some clips of the chaos, showing off the “toof” currently dominating the conversation. And he seems perfectly happy to let the world see his dental drama.

Golden Retriever puppy’s teeth video has everyone melting

The footage starts with Chief on his mom’s laptop, clearly prioritizing cuddles over anything else. As she gives him scritches and pulls back his jowls, his “shark teeth” come into view.

Golden Retrievers are naturally mouthy, especially when exploring the world as a puppy. His tiny grin looks more like a row of needles than actual molars. One viewer observed that this in-between phase is the best. Chief stays relaxed while his mom inspects the progress.

Then the camera zooms in on a gap where a baby tooth recently fell out. And this video marks what seems like a massive milestone for this Golden Retriever puppy. One fan mentioned keeping every single baby tooth their pup dropped as a souvenir.

The next shot reveals the new tooth already cutting through the gums. Chief keeps his tongue wedged in the gap, which makes the shot look too cute. But his focus is entirely on the head rubs that come before and after this inspection.

He sits there with a goofy, half-scrunch expression while his mom records. This isn’t the first time his “teefers” have stolen the show. We last saw them in a video when he was making a wheezy sound in his sleep.

Most followers are just melting over his smile being under construction. Seeing your puppy grow up is bittersweet, but losing those needle-sharp teeth is a win for his owner’s ankles. Hopefully, he has plenty of cold toys to chew on while his smile fills in.
