Video: Golden Retriever Sisters’ Way of Comforting Each Other Never Changes

It’s a nervous moment for any pet parent when they bring a new puppy home. They usually cross fingers and hope the older dog doesn’t decide to file for retirement immediately. For the family behind @goldengirlpacha, those early days with Pacha and Bucket were filled with a very specific prayer for peace. They soon realized, however, that Pacha had plenty of room in her heart for a “thieving and thriving” little sister. A sweet video montage of the Golden Retriever sisters’ journey shows that from day one. Bucket decided her favorite place in their Chicago home wasn’t a dog bed or a rug, but rather directly on top of her sister.

Golden Retriever sister shows patience when furry sister finds comfort in her

The video tracks the Golden Retriever’s growth from a tiny, ear-tugging fluffball to a full-grown dog. Bucket still hasn’t realized she weighs more than a few pounds. In those early clips, she is seen tackling Pacha in the yard and draping herself over her big sister’s back like a fuzzy waist belt. Pacha’s owners noted, “At first we were just praying they’d get along, little did we know how instantly inseparable they’d become.”

It turns out Pacha has a saint-like level of patience, letting the puppy climb all over her face even when she was just trying to nap in the kitchen. As the months rolled by, the family assumed Bucket would eventually grow out of the “climbing” phase. But the video shows the habit only got more ridiculous as she got bigger. No matter if they are on an elevated patio bed or a park bench, Bucket finds a way to park her entire body across Pacha.

One viewer joked that the family actually has a “double-decker golden.” Even when Pacha is trying to catch some solo sunbeams outdoors, she doesn’t seem to mind when Bucket inevitably crashes the party.

The bond is clearly mutual. Pacha seems to act as a permanent safe space, whether it’s just providing a pillow for Bucket’s head or a sturdy base for a full-body snuggle. Their mom is just grateful that they never grew out of needing each other, even if it means Pacha spends half her life under a very heavy, very loving “weighted blanket.”
