Video: Dog Sits Still When It’s Time to Leave Grandparents’ Home

Trying to convince a toddler to leave a toy store is a cakewalk compared to getting Macaroni — aka Roni — to exit her grandpawrent’s home. The NYC-based Maltipoo, whose antics are documented on @ronithemaltipoo, has officially decided that her permanent address should be with them.

In a recent video, the cute dog’s mom films the struggle of trying to pack up and head home after a visit to the grandparents. Despite the bags being packed and the car likely running, Roni is glued to the sofa. She’s firmly nestled next to her grandma, looking at her mom with a face that clearly says, “No thank yew.”

Dog doesn’t want to leave grandparents’ home in adorable video

The hallway is already cluttered with luggage, including the famous soccer net that turned Roni into a viral sensation with over 600,000 likes. When her mom repeatedly says, “Let’s go,” Roni remains completely stupefied. One follower joked in the comments, asking, “Is Roni even your dog anymore?” It’s a fair question considering she has her own bed and a personal toy stash at this house.

Interestingly, Roni decides to play the “suppawt” card by looking up at Grandpaw for an intervention. She wags her tail and stands on her hind legs, pleading with him to tell her mom to leave without her. Grandpaw tries to be the voice of reason. He explains that if Mommy says it’s time to go, she has to go.

Roni, however, isn’t buying it. She gives her mom what can only be described as “dagger looks.” And then turns around to snuggle even closer to Grandma. She even watches her mom walk all the way to the door without budging an inch. Grandma, who has been watching all of this quietly, gives her the sweetest kiss. As one viewer put it, “Why would anyone want to ever leave a 5-star resort?”

We’ve seen in a previous video just how much this sweet dog loves arriving at her grandparents’ house. So it only makes sense that she’d stage a protest when the visit ends. She seems perfectly content to stay behind and let her mom drive home solo.
