Video: Golden Retriever’s Hotel Routine Must Include ‘Uppies’

If you’ve ever traveled with your dog, you’ll realize just how attached they are to familiar comforts and routines. Even in new surroundings, many pups rely on small rituals to feel safe and relaxed at the end of the day. One Golden Retriever has captured everyone’s attention in a video for having a hotel bedtime ritual that must be followed to the letter.

Owner shares Golden Retriever’s hotel routine in video

A recent video shared by @imbluethesiberian shows Golden Retriever Maverick following what his owner calls a “very specific bedtime routine” whenever the family stays at a hotel. The clip, which uses onscreen text to explain each step, walks viewers through Maverick’s nightly process in detail.

According to the video, Maverick begins by grabbing his favorite stuffed toy, a plush Pluto, which clearly goes everywhere with him. He then approaches the bed and places his front paws on the mattress, while keeping his back paws firmly on the floor.

From there, he waits patiently for what his family calls “uppies.” The text notes that Maverick is so committed to this routine that he would rather wait all night than attempt to climb up on his own.

That’s when his dad, Corey Moriarty, steps in. Corey gently lifts Maverick from behind, helping him onto the bed. Once settled, the pup immediately starts digging and pawing at the blankets, adjusting them until the bed feels just right.

After a few moments, he curls up comfortably, while Corey tucks him in. He places the Pluto toy under his head like a pillow and covers him with a blanket. The video ends on a quiet, tender note, showing Maverick slowly drifting off to sleep as Corey softly pets him.

One commenter wrote that dogs seem like “eternal kids at heart,” while another admitted the video made them want a Golden Retriever “so bad.”

Others shared similar bedtime experiences, noting that their dogs announce when it’s time to sleep or have learned creative ways to climb onto the bed themselves. One person even mentioned adding a bench at the foot of the bed so their dog could get up independently.
