These days, weddings are all about personal touches that reflect a couple’s story, and for many families, pets are an essential part of that picture. From walking down the aisle to appearing in photos, dogs have increasingly become part of wedding celebrations. One recent video follows two Golden Retrievers whose wedding-day duties as ring bearers didn’t go exactly as planned, but still captured hearts online.
Instagram user @gamjamypotato, the owner of Golden Retrievers Gamja and Chip, shared the journey of preparing her dogs to serve as ring bearers. The idea was simple but ambitious. Each dog would walk down the aisle, carrying a small basket in their mouth and holding the wedding rings. To make it happen, the pups trained consistently for three months.

The practice began with the basics. Gamja and Chip learned how to walk calmly while holding an empty basket, repeating the exercise again and again with patient encouragement. Over time, the baskets became more elaborate, decorated with flowers to resemble what they would carry on the big day. The dogs even practiced while wearing adorable outfits to recreate the wedding atmosphere as closely as possible.
Despite the careful planning and steady progress, the plan ultimately changed. A last-minute decision by the wedding venue meant the dogs could no longer take part in the ceremony. While the outcome was disappointing, their owner chose to focus on making the most of the situation.
Instead of leading the ceremony, Gamja and Chip still got dressed up and posed for photos with the bride and groom. In several shots, the dogs can be seen holding their baskets just as they had practiced, proudly showing off the skills they worked so hard to learn. They also received plenty of affection from the newlyweds, making sure they didn’t miss out on attention during the celebration. In the caption, their owner summed it up writing: “Not the ending we planned, but still full of love.”
Viewers quickly filled the comments with supportive and lighthearted messages. Some joked that they now wanted to get married just to have the dogs involved. Meanwhile, others noted that their basket-carrying skills could come in handy for holidays like Easter or Halloween. Many commenters also hoped that Gamja and Chip were rewarded with plenty of treats and cuddles for their hard work.
