Getting a dog to stay in their own spot for the night is not always straightforward. But Cactus is already waiting for his turn-down service. You can see him and his antics over at @cactustherescue. And this particular video of the rescue pup starts with him sitting on a full-sized bed. He is just waiting for the routine to start. Dad walks in and asks if he is ready, and going by the happy stretch, you know he definitely is. He knows the book and the teddy bear are coming, and sweet dreams await.
Rescue pup needs cuddles and story time at bed time
Mike walks in with the supplies. Cactus is already on the mattress, and his whole vibe is that of being ready for sleep. He gets up and heads right for his dad. “Cactus loves his bedtime routine,” Mike explained. He reads to him, and the story puts him to sleep every single time. And it’s true. In the video, the rescue pup gets heavy eyes almost immediately. He lets out a little sigh. Then he curls up with that teddy.
Dad actually gets under the covers with him. There is a cushion for support, too. He starts reading. And Cactus is just fading. Then the tuck-in happens. Forehead kisses. Lots of them. The lights go low. Dad switches off the bedside lamp and tells him to have the best sleep. It is such a sweet way to end the day.
The post has almost 25,000 likes. One person called it quite possibly the cutest clip ever. It is hard to argue with that. People love the footage because this dog is living a very different life from his days in the desert.
Someone asked if he actually stays there all night. But he travels. Dad replied in the comments that he usually ends up in the big bed with them eventually. Another viewer said all dogs should be treated like this. It is just very wholesome to see a once timid dog finally feel so safe.
