The day may be ready to start, but Holly the Staffy absolutely is not. In the video that @hollythebluestaffy shared, the morning begins just the way she likes it: slowly, quietly, and ideally without anyone talking to her yet. She is lying on the couch in a cozy pile of pillows and blankets, with a soft toy between her front legs as though it’s an emotional support. At first, you can’t even see her face. But the way she’s resting absolutely still says it all. This is deep rest. Serious rest. The kind that should not be interrupted without a very good reason, or coffee, apparently.
Staffy proves that she isn’t a ‘morning dog’ in video
In the popular video, we see that’s when her dad makes his move. From behind the camera, he cheerfully says, “Good morning, Holly,” clearly hopeful. Holly responds by lifting her head just enough to acknowledge the noise. One sleepy glance. Half-lidded eyes. And then, no hesitation at all, she drops her head right back onto the couch. Decision made. Morning denied.
There’s no grumbling or protest. Simply a quiet, determined unwillingness to engage. She even sighs heavily, as if she’s been asked an absurd question before 9 a.m. Her dad laughs because, frankly, what else can you do when your dog communicates so clearly?
It feels especially fitting for Holly. Dogs like her are known for being deeply affectionate and completely honest about their feelings. If they’re tired, you’ll know. If they’re cozy, you will not be moving them. And if they need another hour, or three, you’ll be waiting.
The caption sums it up perfectly: “Not before my coffee.” Followed by, “Never has been & never will be a morning dog.” The comments agree. “A morning MOOD,” one person writes. Another adds, “Same, Holly, same.”
Between her legendary cuddle sessions, her dedication to power naps, and now this, Holly is building a very relatable brand. And judging by the 6,200+ likes, she’s not alone. Some of us just need a bit more time on the couch before facing the day.
