Video Shows What Happens When You Have to Leave Your Dog Behind

If you have ever tried sneaking out of your house while your dog watches, you might know exactly how this story goes. Instagram user @suavexavier_ shared a video featuring a dog named Knox, who has apparently mastered the art of guilt-tripping. The video starts when his owner picks up his keys. That’s it. That’s all it takes, and the Doberman just stands there, relentlessly staring.

Owner feels guilty about leaving the dog behind in the video

In the video, the dog did not have to say a word to guilt-trip his owner, and you can see the owner starting to crack. He looks at his keys, looks at Knox, then tries to reason with the dog, saying, “I left the TV on for you,” as if that is somehow going to make up for his absence. Knox does not budge, and the staring continues.

The owner tells the Doberman, “It hurts me more than it hurts you,” and at this point, Knox takes a step back and sits down on the floor. Meanwhile, the owner points toward the door and signals that he will now head out.

Then the owner actually makes it outside. But Knox walks straight to the doorway window and watches him leave, and that’s when the owner cracks completely. The door opens back up, and the owner prompts Knox to  “Come on” outside. The guilt-tripping works here, and Knox wins.

The owner dropped a comment on the post, saying what everyone thought, “They really got us trained if you think about it,” and he is not wrong.

Viewers loved this theatrical exchange. People shared their own versions of this exact scenario, with one person writing that Knox was looking at him “like, where do you think you are going without me?” Another user perfectly captured the situation: “He’s not mad… just disappointed.” A third viewer claimed they have started just canceling plans altogether, saying, “I just don’t leave… I can’t do it.”

Truly, with pets, “the guilt be next level,” as the video’s caption says, but it is all worth their charm.
