Many pet parents hope their animals will get along, especially when introducing a new furry companion into the household. Sometimes the adjustment takes time, patience, and a lot of curiosity from both sides. And once the bond forms, it’s often one of the sweetest parts of living with multiple pets. A recent video shared online captures exactly that kind of relationship, showing a cat slowly but surely falling in love with a senior Golden Retriever.

The video features Trout, a young cat, and his 9-year-old senior Golden Retriever housemate named Bruce. At the start of the clip, Trout stays close to Bruce and softly meows at him, as if trying to strike up a conversation.
The kitty gently kneads near him, rubs against him, and treats the senior pup almost like a comforting parent figure. His owner joked in the caption that she never expected Trout to become “so obsessed” with Bruce, but it’s clear the kitten’s affection grows stronger every day.
According to their owner, Trout doesn’t just enjoy being near Bruce. He actively seeks him out. Whether Bruce is napping, resting on the couch, or quietly minding his business, Trout makes his way over and settles right beside him.
One of his favorite things to do is rub against Bruce’s face, especially near his mouth, which the family suspects is his way of asking for kisses. Bruce, meanwhile, appears patient but slightly unsure, as if he’s still adjusting to all the newfound attention.
Their owner also explained that Bruce’s hesitation isn’t surprising. When Trout and his brother Pike were first adopted, the kittens were scared of Bruce and would hiss whenever he got too close.
Over time, the fear faded, and now the dynamic has completely flipped. Instead of keeping their distance, both cats seem curious and eager to bond.
Pike, who is instinctively more cautious, has started sneaking close enough to sniff Bruce when he thinks no one is watching. His family is optimistic that soon Bruce may find himself with two affectionate feline companions.
