Video: Owner Shows What Life With a ‘Clingy Bully’ Looks Like

You know those dogs who decide that physical proximity to their favorite human is a non-negotiable law of the universe. Hippo is the Professor Emeritus of that school of thought. The video on @chulpanfam opens with him trying to wedge his entire goofy face through a cracked door. It’s as though the American Bully is seconds away from filing an official complaint about being separated from his mom. It’s very on-brand for a dog who thrives on staying physically attached to his people, and it’s adorable. Before you even settle into the clip, you get the sense that this is just…everyday life when you share a home with a dog who thinks personal space is a myth.

Owner shows Bully’s ‘clingy’ behavior in video

It’s no surprise the video has racked up over 16.8K likes. People love a dog who makes no attempt to hide his feelings, and Hippo lays it all out there. After the door moment, the video jumps to him peeking around a living room corner. He seems to be gathering intel on his own household.

Then he pops up by the bed, resting his chin on the edge. And you see his tail thump so enthusiastically, you can practically hear it. He sits politely by the dining table in one clip, and in another, he’s back behind that same corner, dramatically revealing himself like he’s the hero of a slow-motion entrance.

The best moment might be when he climbs onto a dining chair just to inspect and sniff a cookie mold tray. He doesn’t want the cookies; he just wants to be involved. That energy carries all the way up the stairs, where he stretches out on the landing and looks downward to keep mom in sight.

And of course, it ends the only way it possibly could: Hippo glued to his mom, soaking up pets like he’s been emotionally neglected for at least six minutes. The comments agree, this is peak “clingy bully” behavior, and truly, who could ever say no to that face?
