Video Shows What Golden Retriever Did on a 12-Hour Flight

Boarding a flight can be unnerving for a dog, but a Golden Retriever’s video proves he is different. Instagram user @maui_thegoldenpup documents a long-haul trip from Los Angeles to Vienna with Maui, the pup who handled the 12-hour journey like a pro. Throughout the trip, the furbaby seems fearless and, amusingly, sleepy. He dozes off for more than 11 hours of the trip, and remains on his best behavior even when he’s awake.

Golden Retriever slept and did some stretching on long flight to Vienna

This Golden Retriever’s video shows his patience while travelling on a flight for 12 hours. Opening with the onscreen caption, “Maui taking the longest flight he ever had (12 hrs LA > Vienna),” the owner sets the stage for an exciting journey.

A clip of the dog wagging his tail follows the in-video text, “Excited to board.” Maui waits patiently to board the flight and eventually settles into his seat, proving he is a pro traveller

Before taking off, Maui enjoys “a tiny treat” and “lays down as soon as the flight takes off.” Safe to say, that’s largely how he stays throughout the journey. Showing him by the footwell, the onscreen text highlights Maui “not even moving the slightest” as he snoozes for “almost entire 11 hours.” The only movement comes with Maui’s “tiny paw stretch” and “grinch toes,” and when he patiently waits for the owner when they use the bathroom.

According to the video’s caption, the Golden Retriever’s calm behavior on the flight surprised even his human. The caption reads, “I knew Maui would do well but I didn’t anticipate him to not move for an entire 12 hrs.” They further praise the pup, “I have the best angel boy and little helper on the airplane.”

Viewers agreed with Maui being called an angel. One wrote, “He’s such a good boy…and he looks so happy to be there!!” Another observed, “That dog has such an angelic face amongst the Goldies I’ve seen,” adding, “Nobody can resist such face.” The pup’s video makes a case for calm, well-trained pets, and a Golden Retriever who can sleep his way through a 12-hour-long flight.
