Video: Golden Retriever Is Extremely Judgy of Dad’s Dancing Skills

Golden Retrievers are famously friendly, loyal, and patient — but even they have their limits. In an Instagram video that has racked up nearly 150K likes, Nala, a sweet Golden with the most expressive face, finds herself caught in a situation no daughter (furry or otherwise) wants to endure: watching her dad dance.

Out in a quiet clearing, Nala sits just behind him, already looking a little wary as he prepares to show off his moves. Drink can in hand, he seems ready to let loose. Nala, on the other hand, looks like she’s silently begging the ground to swallow her whole.

Golden Retriever is left questioning dad’s dancing skills in video

Viewers can’t help but play the video again and again, just to see Nala’s expressions. The clip starts with the pup and her human outdoors. She is sitting slightly behind her dad, looking unsure about the proceedings. The in-video text reads: “When your dancing is so bad that even your dog can’t look you in the eye.” And true to form, the furbaby can’t.

In the video, the second the beat drops and her dad starts dancing, the Golden Retriever’s face says everything. With each step, her eyes widen before she slowly shifts her gaze downward, refusing to acknowledge what’s happening in front of her. The next onscreen caption nails it: “Fother plz stop.”

However, her dad had other plans. He continues dancing, fully committed, while poor Nala pointedly looks away at anything but him. It’s the perfect case of secondhand embarrassment, but make it dog edition.

Nala isn’t just ignoring her dad; she’s practically delivering the ultimate side-eye through body language alone. Fans in the comments were quick to crown her the family judge, with one writing, “We look and we do judge.” Another user said, “What in the sunsets of Ohio did I just witness? – Nals,” as if speaking from Nala’s point of view, and it is spot on.

Friendly, patient, and loyal though Golden Retrievers may be, Nala proves in this video that when dads flaunt their dance moves, even the most tolerant pup has their breaking point.
