Video: Deaf Dog’s Reunion With Long Lost Daughter Will Bring You To Tears

When dogs are separated from their puppies, the chances of them ever meeting again are slim. Life moves on, families change, and the distance becomes permanent. That’s what made Milkshake’s story so unusual. The deaf dog had been abandoned years ago and hadn’t seen her litter since, until a DNA test connected her to a daughter living over 1,400 miles away. Her owners decided to bridge that gap, and the reunion they filmed on video is one you can’t watch without feeling something.

Milkshake, a deaf Pit Bull, had a difficult start in life. Years ago, she was abandoned and separated from her puppies. Her current owners decided to learn more about her past by having a DNA test done, and the results led to an extraordinary discovery. Among the matches was a 51% DNA connection with another dog named Sage, living with a different family over 1,400 miles away. That match meant Sage wasn’t just any dog; she was Milkshake’s daughter.

The two families connected immediately. As a first step, Sage’s owners mailed Milkshake’s family a blanket used by Sage. When the package arrived, Milkshake couldn’t stop sniffing it, clearly intrigued by the familiar scent. Her owners believe that even though years had passed, her memory of her puppy might have been triggered in that moment.

Wanting to reunite them, Milkshake’s family planned a long road trip. In the now-viral video, Milkshake spots a car pulling up and watches intently. Her owners use the sign for “family” to let her know something special is about to happen. As soon as Sage jumps out of the car, the two dogs run straight toward each other. They sniff, circle, and seem to instinctively fall into a bond only they could understand.

The final moments of the video show the pair playing together in the open air, like no time had passed. In the post’s caption, Milkshake’s owner wrote about wanting to inspire other people to prioritize their pets’ happiness. “It is very difficult living 1400 miles away, but we do this to inspire others to do something for their animals even if it’s small… they deserve it,” the caption reads.
