Between nap pods, kombucha on tap, and remote flexibility, companies today are pulling out all the stops to keep employees happy. However, one corporate office may have outdone them all with a perk that’s warm, furry, and doesn’t come with an HR handbook. A recent video showcases their most popular “hire,” a Golden Retriever with his own (unofficial, but fully deserved) title.
Golden Retriever is the ‘Chief Emotional Support Dog’ at corporate office in video
Lenny the Golden Retriever has taken on a very special role at his owner’s corporate office. In a video uploaded to the Instagram account @lenwichthegolden, Lenny is seen casually blending into the office routine. The video opens with a simple question in text overlay: “My dog’s corporate title?” Viewers are then shown shots of Lenny being petted by coworkers, lounging beside desks, and even attending meetings in the boardroom. The next slide reveals the answer: “Chief Emotional Support Dog.”
According to his owner, Lenny “takes his job very seriously.” In the caption, she jokes, “He’s not on payroll yet, but he is the backbone of this company. CESD reporting for duty.” The video closes by asking viewers how much they think Lenny should be earning — a question that sparked hundreds of humorous responses.
One person declared, “I’d pay him unlimited pupcups annually.” Meanwhile, another suggested a perks package of “unlimited treats and belly scratches.” For one commenter, Lenny’s attendance in meetings was the ultimate win: “Any time I walk into a meeting and Lenny is in there, I say ‘oh hell yeah’ under my breath.” And perhaps the most relatable comment of all read, “Can I get a placement here plz.”
Science backs up what many dog parents already feel: dogs boost mental health. A 2021 study published in the journal Animals looked at several workplaces and found that having dogs around helped lower stress, encouraged better communication, and even brought coworkers closer together. For teams that thrive on creativity and trust, a furry coworker might be more valuable than you’d think.
