Video: Golden Retriever Needs Owner to Hold His Hand While They Are Working

For this pet mom, remote work sounds productive in theory. But that was before Zebby decided he needed a permanent physical connection to his mother’s keyboard-tapping hand. Zebby is the “squishiest boy” from @zebbythegolden, a TikTok account with over 260,000 followers. In a recently shared video, the typical home-office boundaries have completely dissolved. Instead of napping in a corner, the Golden Retriever is parked directly next to his mom’s desk chair. He seems to be operating under the logic that if Mom has one free limb, it should probably be used to hold his hand.

Golden Retriever needs to be held while owner works, in adorable video

The video is only seven seconds long, but it shows the sheer bliss of a dog who has successfully lobbied for extra attention. As John Lennon’s “Beautiful Boy” plays over the video, Zebby rests his head down. He’s looking absolutely peaceful while his mom strokes his paw. We all know Golden Retrievers to be “velcro” dogs, meaning they aren’t just in the room with you; they want to be on you.

At one point, Zebby even glances at his paw with heavy lids just to confirm the stroking hasn’t stopped. The comment section turned into a massive support group for other owners dealing with the same “distractions” at their own desks. One viewer enquired, “Does he take hand-holding requests?” while others shared photos of their own pups demanding similar treatment.

It’s a relatable struggle for anyone working from home. We already know from a previous video that Zebby is a fan of the finer things. For example, a professional-grade head massage, so a simple paw-hold is actually him being somewhat modest. Also, his mom likely finds it impossible to get through her emails when a face that sweet is staring back at her.

The sun streaming through the window makes the whole scene look even sweeter. Productivity is going to take a backseat whenever Zebby is in the room. You can’t really blame the guy. As long as the pets keep coming, Zebby seems more than happy to stay on as the permanent Chief Morale Officer.
