The internet is melting over the video showing the journey of how Maui, a senior dog, heartwarmingly opened up to the new puppy, Hugo. Despite the initial rocky phase, the Golden Retriever duo ended up finding a forever friend in each other. While the video showcased their story, the owner noted in the Instagram Reel’s caption, “I got Maui for Ruby, and now I get Maui his own dog.”
The video began with Maui initially not being “interested” in Hugo, the family’s new furry addition, after getting introduced. The puppy “tried to impress” the senior dog, but unfortunately, he “didn’t respond.” Maui even “tried to ignore” Hugo’s “existence.” The clip showed the little baby walking around his brother, who remained uninterested. The video compilation continued to show Maui leaving Hugo out during playtime with their big sister, Ruby.
While playing in the park, when Hugo tried to join his elder siblings to play with them, Maui “accidentally ran over him.” To make matters worse, the senior canine even bit the puppy a few times. The owner shared that they did not “anticipate” Maui’s “bite” but knew that “they can eventually bond.” The video then showed the 360-degree transformation of their dynamics.
After two weeks of downside and “countless eye contacts later,” Hugo finally “approached Maui in a gentle way.” The puppy walked and cuddled up close, while the senior dog let him lie next to him. Gradually, Maui “opened his heart” to Hugo. They started playing together, and the big brother even lets the little one jump on him now. The video noted, “Hugo ignites the inner puppy of Maui and makes his daily walk much more fun.” Despite the rollercoaster start, the Golden duo, Maui and Hugo, is now enjoying a lifetime of friendship.
