While Valentine’s Day is traditionally about celebrating love between partners, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen used the occasion to show their appreciation for their beloved pets. In a heartfelt and lighthearted Instagram video, the celebrity couple blended humor, warmth, and nostalgia to honor their furry companions.
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen ‘L-O-V-E’ their dogs in new video
On Friday, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen shared a Valentine’s Day video showing their affection for their pets. Legend, dressed in a vibrant pink ensemble, and Teigen, in striking red lingerie, performed a light-hearted duet of Nat King Cole’s classic song “L-O-V-E.” The couple’s Poodle, Petey, joined in on the fun and stretched across their laps as they sang.
Every verse of the song sees the couple with different family pets, and Teigen’s outfit changing with each scene. The video reached an emotional crescendo as Legend and Teigen sang to a small wooden box containing Penny’s ashes. Penny, their beloved three-legged French Bulldog, had passed away earlier this year on January 25. Teigen’s Instagram tribute at the time was filled with fond memories and deep affection for the dog who had been part of their lives for over a decade.
In addition to their Valentine’s Day video tribute, Legend and Teigen’s love for animals extends into their professional lives. The couple recently announced the launch of Kismet, a pet food brand that launched in May. Working alongside a board-certified nutritionist, they’ve developed a kibble formula that reflects their dedication to providing quality nourishment for pets.
“We’ve been pet parents for so long, and this is so core to who we are,” Legend told PEOPLE. Teigen added, “Our children eat so well. It’s important for our kids to eat clean and well and feel nourished and fulfilled, but also to get the nutrients they need all the time. And our dogs are just as important as that.” With Kismet, Legend and Teigen hope to bring the same level of care to pets everywhere that they give to their own furry family members.
