Niall Harbison, founder of the animal rescue organization Happy Doggo, shared an Instagram video chronicling Pepper’s remarkable recovery. In the video, we see the tense moments leading up to Pepper’s rescue. Four concerned individuals initially reached out to the rescue group, having spotted Pepper roaming with a conspicuous growth that threatened her life. The most challenging part of the rescue, however, was gaining Pepper’s trust. With the help of a local girl who knew Pepper well, rescuers managed to coax her out of hiding after an hour of searching.
Once secured, they rushed Pepper to the vet where she underwent an emergency surgery. The procedure was fraught with danger, given the growth’s proximity to the pup’s jugular vein. But against the odds, the surgery was successful, and Pepper emerged with a new lease on life. The video captures the rescue dog in the recovery phase, showing her newfound energy and affection for humans, which has already charmed her growing fan base. “I can’t wait to bring her back to her community and the little girl who really did save her life,” Harbison wrote in the caption.
