Pet Parents Gather With Dogs at London Church for Special Blessing Ceremony

In London, pet parents come together for a special blessing ceremony that takes place annually in many churches. On Oct. 25, an Instagram account of two bonded rescue dogs — Betty and Bean — shared a video that showed parents and their four-legged friends gathering at a church for this year’s event. Betty, Bean, and their dog parents were among the dozens of attendees who received blessings that day at the St John the Baptist Church in Holland Road.

London pet blessing ceremony celebrates love for animals & community bond

Dog parents gathered at the St John the Baptist Church on Holland Road to celebrate London’s famous pet blessing ceremony. Amid several attendees were bonded rescue dogs Betty and Bean, who took part in the recent event with their parents. The family later posted a video on Betty and Bean’s Instagram account to share the heartwarming experience with others.

The video is a compilation of clips from the pet blessing ceremony in London. At first, the clip shows footage of other canines present at the special ceremony with a text, reading, “I think there is one thing dog parents have in common.” After a couple of short snippets, the footage shows Betty, Bean, and their dog mom entering the church on a rainy evening. The text then reads, “We want our precious dogs, our most beloved companions to be safe and loved,” from the parents’ point of view.

Later, the video explains that “this is the annual pet blessing service at our local church.” Hundreds of dogs and their families reportedly attended the special annual ceremony. The subsequent clips show Betty and Bean’s dad hugging, holding, and kissing them as they wait for their turn to receive blessings. In the clip, the parents also noted that “the building was bursting with LOVE” and that their rescue dogs “received a beautiful blessing.”

The video concluded with the note that Betty and Bean’s family live abroad. However, experiencing this pet blessing ceremony made them “feel part of the community.” The text further stated, “Nobody will ever be able to convince me that dogs aren’t angels on earth,” as the two bonded dogs posed with their mom inside the establishment.
