Trooper Rescues Lost Dog in Pouring Rain in Tennessee

THP trooper stops car in pouring rain to rescue lost dog in Kingsport

On Friday, Trooper Lance Willis rescued a lost dog while it was raining in Kingsport, Tennessee. What he initially thought was a car crash turned out to be an adorable canine companion who had lost her way. While the traffic had slowed down, the THP trooper parked his car in the middle of the road during a downpour and opened its door to let the pup in.

THP posted the trooper’s act of kindness on its Facebook account. In the video, he noted that, at first, he could only make out an animal in the opposite lane. When he got closer, he realized it was a large dog. Willis also turned on his car’s blue lights to slow the traffic and prevent any accidents. Since traffic safety is THP’s main focus, the troopers often save canines from the roads.

After the German Shepherd safely entered his car, he parked it and waited for an animal control officer to ensure she was in good hands. Willis told WJHL that he noticed the lost dog had a collar. He hoped the owner knew their beloved pet was rescued safely, although she was found in the middle of the road in the rain.

The rescue mission was posted on TikTok and has garnered over 2.5 million views. On Sunday, July 7, Petworks Animal Services posted an update on the pup. The pet parents have reclaimed German Shepherd Luna, and she is back home safe and sound.
