The shocking incident occurred on Saturday, Feb. 10 at around 2:50 p.m. as the dog’s owner, Jen Floyd, was walking her 3-year-old Chihuahua named Knox on the street. Floyd said that a man glued to his phone while walking almost stepped on her dog, prompting her to call out the distracted stranger, the New York Post reported.

“He was not looking at all where he was going,” Floyd narrated. “So he was about to step on my dog by accident, so I said, ‘Hey, watch out for my dog — you’re about to step on him’,” she added.

According to Floyd, the man didn’t take her sentiments kindly. He paused and stared at her before brutally kicking Knox on the side. The former animal welfare worker said her dog started “crying and screaming” from the painful kick.

“He kicked him as hard as he [could] a few feet back,” a furious Floyd stated.

Floyd recorded the entire confrontation with her phone and posted the clip on her Instagram account. She contacted 911 to report the distressing incident.

Shockingly, the man went to the police the next day and filed a complaint against Floyd, accusing her of being the aggressor. The man further alleged that Floyd physically assaulted him and even broke his phone.

In response, Floyd also filed a report countering the man’s allegations.

Unfortunately, the man has yet to be arrested, given the varying account of events presented to authorities. Floyd expressed disappointment that her poor pup might not get justice. She, however, continues to expose the man for launching an unprovoked attack on her dog.

“We’re just trying to spread the word since there don’t seem to be any legal repercussions, Floyd told the media. “We want people to be aware of this man and that he might be a danger.”
