Virginia Man Arrested After Stabbing Dog

Police arrested a man in Virginia after he allegedly stabbed and killed a dog, reports WDCW News. Lucy, a German Shepherd mix, was stabbed when she was on a walk with her owner near the intersection of West Broad Street and South Maple Avenue. The dog ultimately had to be put down due to her injuries.

Suspect caught after witnesses shared his license plate number

According to police, the suspect, 25-year-old Reyan Hassan Ibrahim, was caught after witnesses who saw the attack noted down his license plate number. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) Police Department then went on to arrest Ibrahim near the Dulles Airport Monday during a traffic stop.

Subsequently, authorities took him to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. Currently, no charges have been filed in the case.

“Our hearts go out to the family of this dog,” acting Police Chief Jiwan Chhetri said. “Pets are members of the family, and we grieve along with them.” Continuing, he shared, “We give our thanks to our colleagues at the MWAA Police Department for their swift action.”

He also expressed his gratitude to those who took down Ibrahim’s license plate number, which helped authorities arrest him. “It was a critical piece in catching the suspect,” he added.

According to a Facebook post by Wheatland Farm, Ibrahim tried to attack their horses and might be targeting pets across the county. “Last Friday & Saturday, Wheatland Farm’s horses were targeted by a brazen intruder, possibly carrying a weapon, and in broad daylight,” it reads in part.

“A Broadlands resident reported a similarly described suspect,” they continued. “We will post that detail shortly.”

Police previously arrested Ibrahim for destroying property worth $20,000 in November 2023, according to WDCW News. As per authorities, he broke the electronic menu at a McDonalds drive-thru in Ashburn.

In addition, he broke a wine bottle at a Sheetz in Sterling and damaged the store’s front door. He also broke the entrance door at a Chick-fil-A in the same town. At the time, Ibrahim was charged with three counts of destruction of property. In that case, he was later released on bail.
