Have you ever needed to get something done but just couldn’t find the energy to do it? Maybe it’s a nice warm afternoon and you’ve just had a big lunch. Or you just couldn’t get enough sleep the night before. Whatever the reason, there are moments in the day where you just can’t keep your eyes open.
And we as pet parents are not alone in this struggle. Our beloved dogs can suffer through the same sleepiness, as well, and if you’re lucky, you might catch them in the act of trying to stay awake.
Before we reveal the six dogs who just couldn’t stay awake, keep in mind that if you do find your dog struggling to stay awake, let them lie down and take a nap. And if it’s a constant struggle for your dog, make sure you visit your vet to make sure everything is okay.
Now, on to these six videos of cute pups who couldn’t stay awake.
1. Labrador Retriever Puppy Just Resting His Eyes
Like babies, our puppies tend to sleep a lot. One minute they can be a ball of energy, and the very next, they are somewhere curled up in a deep slumber.
Take this adorable little Labrador Retriever who was five weeks old at the time of the video above, for example. We catch him as he tries to get some shut eye on the stairs.
For some reason, this position is very comfortable for him as he rests his head. When you’re that sleepy, anywhere can be comfy!
2. Boxer Falling Asleep On The Couch
We’ve all been there before, haven’t we? We’re relaxing on the couch about to start a movie or television show, and the next thing you know, we wake up to the end credits and have no idea when we fell asleep.
This Boxer on the couch might encapsulate that whole experience. Trying to spend some time with his human, this cute Boxer struggles to hang as he continually falls asleep.
He tries his best to stay awake but, in the end, his eyes won’t let him.
3. Newly Adopted Pup Just Wants To Sleep
If you’re a new pet parent and have just adopted a puppy, you can’t wait but to take him or her to their new home.
You might imagine the first thing you want to do is play in the backyard with their new toys you just bought. But for this puppy, the only thing she wanted to do was take a nap.
In this quick video, we catch a Labrador puppy sitting in the kitchen trying to stay awake. Her head bobs up and down as she tries to fight off the sleep. In the end, she caves and finds a nice spot next to her human.
4. German Shepherd Struggles To Stay Awake In The Jungle
When you’re a soldier, you might have a job that will consist of you needing to stay up all night. This, of course, can be very tiring and might cause a little sleep deprivation. The same can happen for soldier dogs.
This young German Shepherd is in a camp with soldiers when he starts to fall asleep by the fire.
His fellow soldiers giggle as they catch him trying to keep strong and stay awake, but in the end, he finally gives in and rests his head on one of their shoulders.
5. Police Dog Is Super Tired
Police officers also have tireless jobs. They work constantly throughout the day to serve and protect the community they live in. Most who patrol their neighborhoods will have a partner, and some will be lucky enough to have a canine partner.
This German Shepherd tries to stay awake as her human partner tries to get some paperwork done in the office. Laying comfortably on a chair, she tries to keep her eyes open, but they’re just feeling too heavy.
Don’t worry pup, we all get like this sometimes.
6. Puppy Tries To Be Watchdog For Human Baby Brother But Fails
If you have younger siblings, there are times when you feel protective of them. Take this little puppy for instance, who tries to be a good sibling for his human baby brother.
While his human brother is napping peacefully, this cute little puppy, who might only be barely a month older, tries to watch over him. But being a good brother is a tiring job!
This pup soon gives in and tries to cuddle with his brother. Eventually he dozes off before waking up and realizing he adorably fails at being a watchdog.
