Nothing beats a beautiful picture when you’re on a grand vacation. And, what better way to celebrate that fun time with your dog than to stop at some dog-friendly Instagram spots? In addition to seeing some of the most popular dog breeds on Instagram, you’ll make some fun memories with your furry best friend.

South Rim, Grand Canyon, Arizona

With sweeping, picturesque views of the Grand Canyon, the South Rim is one of the top places to take a great Instagram photo with your dog. Not only is it a picturesque road-trip destination, but the site also offers several hiking trails perfect for exercising and taking some unique shots along the way.

Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington

Looking for a more city-like setting? Pike Place Market, in the heart of downtown Seattle, is the perfect spot. The location is dog-friendly on the sidewalks outside (no pets inside, please!) and offers grand views of the Puget Sound, unique shop fronts, and of course, Rachel the Piggy Bank statue.

Central Park, New York City, New York

If you’re looking for a mix of city views mixed with nature, check out Central Park in New York. This iconic and dog-friendly location offers a mix of views, from tall skyscrapers to beautiful fountains. Best of all, the park allows dogs off-leash at certain locations throughout the day so you can catch your canine in action.

Las Vegas Welcome Sign, Las Vegas, Nevada

Glitz, glam, and more abound in beautiful Las Vegas! Located in the heart of the Nevada desert, this gem of a city offers fantastic sparkly and majestic views, including the iconic Las Vegas Welcome Sign. Dress up your dog in something silly and stroll the Strip for great picture spots such as the Bellagio fountains, Caesar’s Palace, and more.

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Those looking for a more rugged Instagram spot with towering mountains, beautiful forests, and incredible wildlife will enjoy a stay at Yellowstone National Park. Do be warned, however, that dog-friendly locations are limited to camping grounds and some walking trails. Even so, you won’t be lacking beautiful scenery to photograph.

Tips for photographing at dog-friendly Instagram spots

You’ve picked the perfect spot and it’s time to take some great photographs of your dog. Before even taking your photo, give your dog a chance to get used to the camera. Let them sniff it, offer a few treats if they show interest, and go slow if they seem nervous or wary. Once they seem comfortable, you can then scope out the best location and lighting for your photo.

Next, you’ll want to get your dog to stay put. Practicing commands like “sit,” “lie down,” and “stay” beforehand can help you get your dog in the right spot as you set up your shot. Be aware of lighting, time of day, and people around you as well; you don’t want someone stepping in front of your shot or one that is too dark.

And lastly, ask for help! Having a buddy take the photo for you so you can be in the shot, waving around treats to get your dog’s attention, or just sitting with your dog until you’re ready can help remove some of the frustration of photography.

Now that you know some great dog-friendly Instagram spots, it’s time to hit the road and go on a fun new adventure. You and your dog will be taking some tail-wagging shots in no time!
