Billie Eilish’s Dog Shark: Breed, Age, and More

For many years, Billie Eilish’s dog Shark has been her furry best friend, frequently appearing in interviews and social media posts. The popular artist adopted Shark as a puppy during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since become a loveable member of the O’Connell family. The dog even has his own Instagram account which has over 60,000 followers and features many photos of Billy Eilish snuggling him. Here’s more information about her pup Shark, including how old and what breed he is.

How old is Billie Eilish’s dog Shark?

Billie Eilish’s dog Shark is five years old, as of February 20, 2025.

Eilish shared an Instagram on February 9, 2021 that revealed she was celebrating Shark’s first birthday, which is how we know how old he is. The first post on Shark’s Instagram account was on April 12, 2020, meaning that he was just two months old when Eilish adopted him from a rescue organization called ACPB in Los Angeles.

As revealed in an interview with Vogue, Eilish initially wanted to foster a few puppies, thinking that she would be home for two weeks before her tour in 2020. She received two pups named Jem and Miss Maudie, and as the pandemic grew over the summer, she decided to adopt Jem and changed his name to Shark. (Meanwhile, Miss Maudie found a home with one of her family friends.)

What breed is Billie Eilish’s dog Shark?

Billie Eilish has confirmed that Shark is a pitbull, otherwise known as the American Pit Bull Terrier. That’s not too surprising given that the full name of the ACPB is the Angel City Pit Bulls.

Billie said she admired how “special and goofy” Shark was when she was fostering him and loved his coat color and personality, which is why she ultimately decided to adopt him. The male “pitty” can be seen playing with Peaches, the female pitbull owned by her brother Finneas O’Connell. In addition to “Shark,” Eilish also calls him other adorable nicknames like Chark, Barnk, Bonk, Chonk, and Sharnk.

Shark is also a rockstar of sorts. His barks and growls can be heard in her song “I Didn’t Change My Number” and “The Greatest.” And he has appeared on stage in her live shows.
