The people at Holistic Select sent Champ and I the most wonderful bag of treats; Holistic Select Duck Strips Natural Dog Treats 6oz bag.
But as you know, I’ve been trying not to “over treat” Champ as it is fattening and it spoils him. So, I gave the sample bag to my friend Paul who has three lovely dogs (all rescued). Now, when it comes to an opinion, Paul I trust. He’s outspoken, and doesn’t hesitate to let you know exactly how he feels. Here was his quick review: “It’s worth mentioning that I’ve yet to find a treat that they don’t garble up like it’s their last meal.
So my view is this, if it’s healthy (made of real food, not overly processed junk, not too salty, with an appropriate blend of nutrients for dogs their age/size) and if it’s not too expensive, then I’m a fan”
Well Paul, I didn’t taste the treats, but I can tell you they are healthy. Holistic Select is “Made In the USA” always a plus in my book, and only uses the finest all natural ingredients: Duck (preserved with natural mixed tocopherols), brown rice, sea salt, rosemary extract, zinc proteinate, vitamin E supplement, coated ascorbic acid (source of Vitamin C)
As for the price, I think they are an excellent price considering the quality of the treat. Remember, they are “treats” not meals. Pet Food Direct has the best selection and prices at $7.19 for a 6oz bag:
