It probably goes without saying that Halloween candy is off limits to all but your human guests. Chocolate and dogs is a particularly bad combination.
Since it’s Halloween, it’s probably tempting to serve each of your canine guests a big juicy bone. Don’t do it–there’s no quicker way to break up a party than to give the dogs a chance to get territorial over a prized bone.
So we recommend making Pumpkin cupcakes. Hey, Halloween comes only once a year.
Howl-o-ween cupcakes
2 cups whole wheat
1/2 cup oat flour
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup water
1 T honey
1 T canola oil
1 tsp salt
Directions: Mix dry ingredients. Add water, pureed pumpkin, and honey. Mix and let the dough rest for 15 minutes. Add oil and allow it to sit another 30 minutes. If you want a slightly more festive looking cake, throw in a dash of red and yellow food coloring to make the cake orangish. Take small portions of the dough and flatten on a cookie tin–as if you were making cookies. Bake in oven at 400 for 30 minutes. Let cool, and serve.
Accompaniments for people guests: Chocolate cupcakes topped with gummy worms, witches fingers, pumpkin bars.
