How many of us, as pet parents, have spent time putting our dogs in coats and boots to protect them from the weather? Of course, our results may vary, as the pooch in the video above demonstrates.

Toby, or TobyTheGentleman as he’s known on TikTok, is a Boston Terrier who’s trying to get the hang of his new rain gear. The raincoat looks a bit like a flying saucer, and the boots will take some getting used to. But the funny pup is making the best of it.

Send this video to someone who could use a smile today! And if your dog wants to have some fun on a rainy day like Toby — whether they have rain gear or not — then check out a few things you can do with your pooch when the weather won’t cooperate.

Fun Dog Activities For A Rainy Day

The rain doesn’t need to ruin your day, especially when you have a dog. Here are a few activities you and your pup can try:

  • Stage funny photos: Taking some funny photos can be fun for both you and your dog. Even kids ca get in on the fun! Just make sure to keep the photo session short enough to hold your dog’s attention, then reward them for a good job, and don’t go overboard with the props.
  • Try food-dispensing toys: Products like the classic Kong are great for rainy days. Simply throw some food inside, and let your dog roll, gnaw, and bat it all around the room. Kong isn’t the only name in town, either. Look for puzzle feeders that your dog might like to try.
  • Dog bowling: Gather some empty two-liter plastic bottles and milk jugs — these will be the “pins.” Stand all the pins at the end of a room or hallway in a bowling-alley triangular formation. Grab a tennis “bowling” ball and roll it toward the pins. If your dog likes to chase, they will probably go flying after the ball and knock over the pins. Set them back up and see who can get the most strikes.
  • Practice tricks: Whether you’re teaching a puppy to sit, or just brushing up on some commands, if you push your dog’s abilities, they will probably get tired out pretty quickly. Just make sure to keep training sessions at an appropriate length of time.
  • Go outside: Some dogs seem to be absolutely waterproof, so don’t let a little rain scare you from taking them out. Whether it’s a quick walk along your normal route, or putting on some boots for puddle jumping, they may have an amazing time splashing in the great outdoors.

Does your dog wear any rain gear to go outside like the dog in the video? What are some other fun things you do with your dog when it rains? Let us know in the comments below!
