Mississippi Rescue Group Builds 20-Acre Sanctuary For Abused Animals, & You Can Help!

Rescue Animal A.I.D. of Mississippi, a non-profit, volunteer, no-kill animal rescue organization, is currently breaking ground on a 20-acre animal sanctuary, converted from an old farm.

Turning 20-acres of farmland into an animal sanctuary is no small fete, nor is it cheap. But according to WXXV25, Animal A.I.D. has already raised enough funding to set things in motion.

The organization director, Lyn Powers, said, “We are currently under construction which is very exciting, which means we’ve raised enough money to purchase the materials. Everyone knows how expensive materials are nowadays.”

A Safe Space For Abused Animals

This sanctuary for abused dogs and cats will also have a 31,000-square-foot backyard. This puts pretty much every average dog parent’s puppy play space to shame. Rightly so, as abused animals deserve the extra space — and love.

“We’re gonna have some interactive things for the dogs to do, an airstream trailer to hang out in, a dog pool that they can romp in, in the summer, which will be great,” continued Powers.

Further plans for the acreage include the reconstruction of three existing buildings on the property. One of the barns will be turned into a dog run, a house will become a care-taking facility, and the third building will serve as a comfort space for adopters to meet adoptees.

They Need Your Help To Finish The Sanctuary

So far, Animal A.I.D. has been able to raise $63,000 to get started. However, to finish the project, they need to raise $170,000.

“As you can imagine, we need a lot of funds to finish the other projects. We are also working with the county permit office to get everything up and running,” said Powers.

“We would like to be able to give the opportunity to bring dogs here from the animal shelters that need a little extra time, a little extra space, and a little extra exercise sometimes.”

If you’re interested in donating to this amazing project, then you may do so on their website here. Even if you can’t donate at this time, you can help spread the word to family and friends on social media!
