When Jessica Eisenbeis graduated from school, she had trouble finding a job. Employers didn’t want to hire a woman who suffered from Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects learning. She was considered unemployable by many, but she didn’t let their rejection or her learning disability hold her back. Eisenbeis started her own business called Yadi’s Yummies that specializes in delicious dog treats.
Eisenbeis started making healthy treats for dogs after her pup, Yadi, passed away and her other dog, Annie, had to get surgery. For two years, she found success selling her treats online and at fairs and markets. Recently, she opened her own brick-and-mortar store and cafe in St. Peters, Missouri. It’s a place dog owners can go to with their pups to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and browse healthy yummies for dogs. Among the delicacies you can order for your pooch are Sweet Potato Chews, Pupcakes, Trail Mix, and Apple & Chicken Treats.
Even though no one would hire Eisenbeis, she was able to find a way to make money and help dogs in the process. She is glad to run a business that allows her to donate to shelters and take care of dogs in need while feeding beloved pooches tasty treats. Ten percent of the profits from Yadi’s Yummies are donated to rescue groups that help cover the medical needs of dogs in shelters. Her story is incredibly inspirational and shows that even if other people won’t hire you, you can still find a way to thrive, be valuable, and still express your love and concern for our canine companions.
