Humans use Tinder, a popular matchmaking mobile app, in hopes of making a connection with another human of the two-legged variety. But according to AdWeek, humans in New York could find a four-legged canine match — specifically, adoptable dogs.
Created by three marketing interns at Bartle Bogle Hegarty’s (BBH) The Barn program, with dogs from the Social Tees Animal Rescue, New York-area Tinder users can access adoptable dogs the same way they would a potential romantic match. For dogs who come up a match, app users even have three options: take the pooch for a walk, foster the animal for a couple of weeks, or adopt him.
Interns Jaehyuk Choi, Mario Garza, and Alexis Mood created 10 dog profiles on Facebook, which were then connected to the Tinder app.
“People are on Tinder looking for love, and these dogs have a lot of love to give,” Mood tells Fox 8. “We wanted to do something good and beneficial that made an impact.”
According to the New York Daily News, 3 of the 10 dogs available for adoption who were featured on Tinder have found forever homes.
BarkBuddy, a dedicated free app that also matches humans with adoptable dogs, launched in May.
