New year, new dog! Actress Emma Roberts has adopted a Chihuahua rescue pup to add to her brood.
An Instagram Welcome
The 31-year-old “Holidate” star announced on an Instagram Story that she adopted the fur baby from Los Angeles-based animal rescue organization The Labelle Foundation. According to its website, the 501(c)(3) is “devoted to saving, rehabilitating, and advocating for dogs. Through engaging the community far and wide, The Labelle Foundation aims to serve the animal rescue community by specializing in neonatal orphans, medical dogs and mothers and babies. Their goal is to help the animals they rescue find loving forever families, save as many lives as possible, and educate on the importance of responsible dog ownership.”
The post included a pic of the brownish-colored pooch, along with the caption: “Our new family member… We love him so much! Rescued from @thelabellefoundation.”
The Labelle Foundation also posted (then removed) more information on the little guy, who bore the moniker “Skunk”. (No word on whether or not Roberts is keeping the nickname.) According to the Daily Mail, the dog was abandoned along with his dog brothers and sisters in December. They all had a contagious viral infection called Parvo, which can cause fever, diarrhea, and vomiting. Luckily, they survived and became eligible for adoption.
Chihuahua Gets Big Brother
The Chihuahua may not have his dog siblings to keep him company anymore. But he will have a 2-year-old human brother, Roberts’ son Rhodes, whom she shares with 38-year-old actor Garrett Hedlund.
Motherhood changed Roberts’ perspective on the future – and how her actions now affect it.
“Where before, I’m operating in the world on my own and I’m just kind of thinking about what’s right for me. And when you have a kid, it’s like, wait, how old is he going to be in the year 2050? What’s the world going to look like?” she told People in 2021. “For me, I definitely wanted to educate myself more on what I should be doing.”
Perhaps this rescue dog adoption is one of those things. Will she add more canines to her brood? Stay tuned!
