In the Instagram video, rescue pup Cactus finally meets Honey, a foster mama dog who has been staying separately in his home with her six puppies. According to their owner, Cactus had no idea the other rescue dogs had been living in the garage for the past week and a half.

Honey and her litter were rescued from terrible conditions, and because she was fiercely protective of her puppies from the start, their human chose to introduce them gradually to avoid making either dog feel uncomfortable.

After spending time on opposite sides of the house, Cactus and Honey were finally introduced on neutral ground. The cautious first meeting soon turned into a success as the pair went for walks together and shared treats from their owner.

Encouraged by how well things went outdoors, the human owner brought them inside the house, where the two dogs instantly bonded, proving the slow introduction had paid off. They began playing with Cactus, taking Honey out to chase lizards, and the chase continued right back into the house.
