Mel Neville, who runs the Instagram account @xhonkygirlx, recently showed us definitive proof that her pup Watson is fluent in “grumpy seal.” In a hilarious new video, this long-bodied Dachshund is just hanging out on the bed, but the soundtrack he provides is anything but normal canine behavior. The on-screen text asks if you’ve ever wondered what sounds these little guys make, and honestly, the answer is way weirder than you’d expect.

One viewer joked that this is clearly “the sound of frustration for not getting enough love,” while another interpreted the louder noises as a not-so-subtle hint that someone in close proximity should come rub his belly immediately.
Watson even throws some serious side-eye at the camera at one point. He’s probably wondering why his private complaining session is being documented for the internet. Another fan admitted they thought their own dog “was broken at first” when they started making similar alien noises.
By the end of the clip, Watson is standing at the edge of the bed. He seems to be contemplating if moving is even worth the effort. It’s a lot of hard work being that cozy and opinionated at the same time. Hopefully, he eventually got that belly rub he was obviously asking for.
