You might have heard that Paul Rudd has a doppelganger – an Australian Shepherd mix his shelter nicknamed Pawl Ruff.
The Tennessee shelter urged Rudd himself to adopt the pup, and while he hasn’t, Pawl Ruff has indeed found his very own forever home.
Going Viral on Twitter
The Collierville Animal Shelter was trying to find a home for Pawl Ruff, whose real name is Waffle House, last week, and the dog went viral on Twitter as result. The original tweet has been viewed over 75,000 times.
But in a follow-up tweet from Monday (Feb. 20) the Town of Collierville Twitter account shared that Pawl Ruff has a forever home right there in the local area.
Local resident Jennifer Roy is the pup’s new dog mom. “I had been looking for a dog and was following different shelters in the area. When I saw him, I thought, ‘that’s my dog’,” she explained, per the Evening Standard.
She first saw his picture a few weeks ago, before he went viral for his uncanny resemblance to a certain Ant-Man actor. And after his internet fame, she realized that she needed to act fast.
“The story blew up and I was worried someone would come get my dog!”, she said. So, she applied to adopt him, went to visit the shelter, and then officially adopted him on Sunday (Feb. 19).
Not Paul Rudd – But Still a Forever Home
However, he’s no longer called Waffle House. While Pawl Ruff is set to remain his nickname, his name is now Rowdy. “He isn’t very rowdy at all,” she finished, “but he seems to like the name”.
“We did reach out to Paul Rudd’s publicists and asked if they would bring the story to his attention,” said Collierville public information officer Jennifer Casey. “We did not expect him to adopt the dog, we just wanted the story to reach him.
“And, if the story stops here, it will have a very happy ending.”
