One dog knew just where to go when she found herself lost – the local police station.

On Nov. 3, Border Collie Rosie was scared by a firework while her dog dad was walking her and strolled into Loughborough Police Station, where she took a seat in the waiting room. Leicestershire Police staff gave the dog some water and a fuss before finding a phone number on her ID tag, BBC News reports.

Lost Dog Spooked by a Firework

Dog dad Steve Harper, 68, was walking the 10-year-old rescue pup along with his other dog when she heard a firework. Her dog mom, Julie, 61, explained that she went and stood with her dad, as she often does when nervous. But then, she ran off.

“She pushed herself through a hedge and handed herself into the police station. The police station is right next to the park.”

Julie explained that her husband was “really upset” to have lost Rosie temporarily. But fortunately, the police called her just as he was getting home with their other dog. She said that she was “so proud” of the clever canine, and pleased that she was safe.

Leicestershire Police said: “Thankfully she was wearing a collar, so a lead was available to contact Rosie’s owner, who was delighted she had been found safe and well”.

Making Friends on Facebook

The force captured the moment Rosie arrived at the station on CCTV, and shared it to Facebook. “The pack at Loughborough Police Station made a new furry friend last week after a lost dog strolled into the station,” they wrote alongside the video.

“We’ve collared the CCTV of the Border Collie, Rosie, so you can see her approaching the doors before walking in and taking a seat in the corner. Good dog!”

Facebook users were quick to praise the dog for going to the station. “Clever Rosie!! Glad she got home OK!” said one. “Poor baby clever doggy”, said another.
