The Seattle Mariners baseball team adopted a clubhouse dog, MLB.com reports.
According to the press release, the team welcomed the canine roster addition on Saturday. Tucker, a 4-year-old Labrador mix, shows off his puppy eyes in photos posted to the team’s social media pages.
Mariners’ Newest Addition
Tucker has his own social media (@MarinersPup on Twitter) and is already quite the public figure, boasting 23 thousand followers at the time this was written.
Mariners pitcher Erik Swanson posted an adorable photo of himself and Tucker hanging out in the clubhouse on his Twitter. Undeniably, the newly-adopted pup appears to be in the highest of spirits.

The club adopted Tucker from a local shelter. Specifically, the pup came from the impressive rescue OkanDogs. OkanDogs serves the Okanogan region of Washington, a “huge geographic area” that “has almost no animal resources,” according to the OkanDogs site. Although the region has stray dogs in need of attention, there isn’t a humane society or animal control officer designated to that area. As a result of this need, OkanDogs ensures all of their pups “are inoculated, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.”
MLB Teams Go All-In for Rescue Pups
The Mariners’ adoption of Tucker occurred the same day that the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted an adoption event at Dodger Stadium.
Altogether, 62 out of 100 dogs at the event found forever homes. Talk about a lot of happy pups.
Given that these two clubs have had success with rescue dogs, we think other MLB teams should follow suit and help local rescue pups find homes.
