Justin Theroux’s dog Kuma is now Instagram official.
The Pit Bull mix that the Mulholland Drive actor adopted from a high-kill shelter in 2018, took over his dad’s Instagram account to announce the news that the pup would have his own IG account to share with fans.

A cursory look at Justin Theroux’s Instagram will tell you everything about the relationship and bond he shares with Kuma. In a particularly touching post on the three-year anniversary of Kuma’s “gotcha day,” Theroux celebrated all things Kuma.
“I know you can’t read Kuma, but thank you for being so open, making me laugh, sleeping in later than me, going everywhere by my side, reminding me to stay in the present, to let things roll off me, to have gratitude and joy for everything, even just waking up,” Theroux captioned a slide show of Kuma and his cherished moments.
“Reminding me to be playful. For showing patience. For not judging anyone, (except skateboards that you judge harshly). For showing kindness first, to literally everyone you meet.”
Theroux also went on to call Kuma “an exceptional (but not uncommon) Pit Bull ambassador” who helped “save other Pit Bulls like yourself by letting me tell people your story.”
He then added, “For being loyal. For being my gray shadow… And above all, for guarding the bathroom door literally every time I take a p**s like my life depended on it.” Who can’t relate?
The Maniac actor ended his post by thanking “all the hands that cared for Kuma before I got there” and “ALL who work in animal rescue.”
He added, “you are my heroes.” Theroux then stressed to his followers to adopt dogs looking for their forever homes instead of buying from a breeder. “You won’t regret it,” he wrote.
Adopt A Dog Like Kuma!
(Photo by Raymond Hall/GC Images/Getty Images)Kuma’s new Instagram fame couldn’t come at a more appropriate time, as this week is Adopt A Less Adoptable Pet Week. Pit Bulls like Kuma often spend more time in shelters. They wait longer for forever homes because of unfair stereotypes about these sweet dogs.
Take some time this week to share less adoptable pets on social media and help them find forever homes. You could end up saving a life!
And if you have room in your home and heart, then consider adoption and give a less adoptable animal a chance at love. Pit Bulls, senior dogs, dogs with disabilities, and black dogs all have trouble getting adopted. You might find a Kuma of your very own!
If you can’t adopt, then think about making a donation to a shelter or rescue you love. You can help!
