Human Adopts ‘Aggressive’ Shelter Dog on the Clock, Now He Sits in Her Lap Like a Baby

Not every dog gets a fair first impression. Bauer certainly didn’t. Shared by @bauer.thestaffy, this video shows the rescue Staffy mix sitting in his new mom’s lap while she files his nails and sings to him. It’s hard to imagine that this same pup had been labeled “fear aggressive” and placed on the euthanasia list. One week later, after one human chose to adopt the shelter dog instead of walking away, he looks like he has finally figured out how to be a baby.

Shelter dog once labeled ‘aggressive’ gets adopted and becomes a baby to loving human

The video shows Bauer sitting comfortably in his mom’s lap while she gently files his front nails. He barely moves, apart from blinking slowly every now and then and leaning in to give her a few quick kisses. At one point, he even licks the hand holding his paw before settling right back down again.

The on-screen text explains that this was just one week after being adopted. It also reveals that the same shelter dog, once described as “fear aggressive,” had previously been placed on the euthanasia list. Watching him now, “getting sang to” and groomed by his sweet mom, is everything. In fact, it’s difficult to match that calm, trusting face with the label he was once given.

In the caption, Bauer’s owner shared that adopting again after losing a soul dog felt overwhelming. She admitted worrying she wasn’t ready, but meeting Bauer changed that. She wrote that while she rescued him, “in so many ways, he rescued me too.” Additionally, she also encouraged others to take a second look at the dogs everyone else overlooks.

More than 9,600 people have already liked the post, and the comments quickly filled with love. One person wrote, “My heart can’t handle how sweet this baby is,” while another added, “Omg baby Bauer was just waiting for this life.” For this human who chose to adopt an overlooked shelter dog, life is definitely sweeter with her new baby.
