Dog Treats a Tiny Ramp-to-Couch Step Like the Biggest Decision of the Day

This dog has reached the edge of the ramp, and suddenly there is a serious problem to solve: the gap between it and the couch. The gap is tiny, and he could easily step across it, yet the little Dachshund stops, looks at his human on the couch, looks down again, and appears to reconsider all his calculations.

In the video shared by @cannoli_the_weenie, the dog takes a few cautious tippy taps, almost commits, backs out, and starts over. He wants that blanket on the couch badly, but the ramp-to-couch situation is apparently going to require some careful thought first.

Cannoli stands at the end of the ramp, with his front paws close to the edge and his eyes fixed on the couch. The text on the screen says, “Witnessing bravery in real time.” For a while, Cannoli is clearly not rushing anything.

He looks at the small gap, looks up at the couch, and gives a few tiny tippy taps with his paws. He seems ready to make a move, gets right to the moment of commitment, and then changes his mind.

Back to looking at the couch and then at the gap. Finally, he takes a pause, and this time, Cannoli appears to settle on a plan. He slowly places one front paw onto the cushion. The other joins it soon after. The rest happens much faster. His back legs come up in one quick, blurry motion, and somehow he is suddenly standing on the couch.

Cannoli waddles his way over to the blanket and settles down. Once he is comfortable, he gives a little lip smack that looks very much like relief. The video has received nearly 7,000 likes, and the comments are having a lot of fun with the tiny jump. One person compared it to “one small step for man,” while another jokingly threatened to report the tiny gap to animal protective services.

Others called Cannoli brave, with one viewer declaring him “the bravest dude” over what was, objectively, a very small distance. He was simply a dog facing a tricky ramp to couch crossing, and he eventually got himself where he wanted to be.
