Rescue Dog Once Spent Time Just Staring at a Wall Before a Human Let Him Experience the World

A trip to an adoption event and a flag football game would be a pretty big day for most dogs, but for Elroy, it means something more. The Beagle once spent a full week staring at a wall, so being out in a car, meeting other dogs, and standing on a busy field is a huge change.

The rescue dog gets a little nervous at first, but the video shared by @hera_the_maligator shows him taking it all in with his foster Mom nearby. He even finds another Beagle, checks out the water bowls, and eventually settles down on the grass to watch the world go by.

Rescue dog experiences a fun outing with the help of human

The outing starts with Elroy sitting politely in the back seat as his foster mom drives. The video identifies him as a Ridglan Farms foster Beagle who has made it to day 102 of his journey. At the adoption event, his foster mom is unsure how he will handle the crowd. Elroy stays close to her at first, then starts checking out the water bowls and sniffing around. He even spots another Beagle and gets a chance to say hello.

He still prefers having a quiet corner to himself. Instead of hiding under a table, though, Elroy lies off to the side and watches everything happening around him. A dog comes over for a quick sniff, Elroy sniffs back, and then he settles right where he is. His foster mom jokes that it is also the vibe she brings to parties, which feels pretty accurate.

Later, the furry baby heads to a flag football game. He is a little unsure when he first steps onto the grass, but he does not shut down. He sits, looks around, and eventually lies down as he takes in the new surroundings. Then he starts walking around the field in his own time.

That final part feels especially significant because, as the video points out, a few months ago, the rescue dog’s foster mom could not have imagined him doing any of this. The clip has earned more than 6,900 likes, with viewers cheering him on. One commenter said they were “super proud of Elroy.”
