A determined dog can turn even the simplest task into a challenge, and Neptune the Golden Retriever is a perfect example. His owners put up a net around their boat to stop him from pushing things into the water, only for Neptune to find a way around it. The clever pup eventually worked out how to squeeze his toy through a tiny gap, and his reaction afterward was priceless.

A video shared by @apollo_germanshepherd shows Neptune putting his problem-solving skills to work after his owners’ attempt to prevent him from pushing things into the ocean. Apparently, the Golden Retriever has made a habit of dropping or pushing objects into the water.

To put an end to the behavior, Neptune’s owners placed a net around their boat. It seemed like a reasonable solution, but the clever dog quickly found a way to turn the new obstacle into another challenge.

Text appearing on the video explains the situation, saying, “We got the net so our golden retriever would stop pushing things into the water… Neptune: challenge accepted.”

In the clip, Neptune can be seen holding a toy and trying to push it through the net. His first attempt does not go according to plan, as the toy gets caught between his face and the net. Instead of abandoning his plan, however, the furry baby keeps working at it and appears to look for a better angle.

He eventually manages to position the toy near a small opening in the net. With some careful maneuvering, he gets the toy through the tiny gap and successfully sends it into the water. The moment the toy makes it through, Neptune appears to realize that he has accomplished exactly what he wanted.

His reaction is what makes the video particularly amusing. Neptune turns back with a noticeably proud expression and what looks like a giant smile on his face. He seems completely satisfied with his accomplishment, as though he has just solved a puzzle that his owners thought would be impossible for him to beat.
