Labrador Has Been Told He Doesn’t Need a Leash but Would Like To Follow Protocol

Mom is ready to head to the store, but Myles, the Labrador, is standing on the driveway with his leash in his mouth. Mom tries to explain that they are only popping to the store, so he can leave it behind. He wags his tail through the whole conversation, but the leash stays in his mouth.

In the clip from @mylesandanna, leaving the driveway becomes a much longer process than Mom expected. This Labrador refuses to leave without a leash, and the wagging tail suggests he has no problem outwaiting his human companion.

She points out that he isn’t tied to the leash at all, so there is really no reason to bring it.

The explanation doesn’t change much. Myles still wants that leash in his mouth. Mom tries a different tactic and holds out one of his toys. For a moment, the toy wins. Then Mom starts to leave, and Myles immediately goes back for his leash. At one point, the human is practically pleading with him. She explains that they are not even going for a walk. Myles just keeps wagging and stays exactly where he is. Rules are rules!

Another wondered whether he feels left out when he sees other dogs walking on leashes. Someone else shared that their own dog refuses to leave the car without holding a leash.
