The door to the treatment room is right in front of Finn, but he is not quite ready to walk through it yet. Not without checking on mom first. The dog pauses beside two members of the veterinary team, turns his head, and looks back through a gap to find her in the waiting area. In the video shared by @_keira_rae, that one little glance is heart-rending. Finn has been diagnosed with lymphoma and is going through chemotherapy, yet he still seems most concerned with knowing his mom is close by.
Dog needs to make sure that mom is still waiting for him before heading in for treatment
Finn is being walked toward the chemotherapy room when he suddenly stops at the doorway. Two veterinary staff members are with him, while mom films from the waiting area. Then Finn turns around. He looks through the small gap between the staff members’ bodies until he finds mom, almost as if he just needs that quick visual check before continuing. She is still there. He knows it. And that seems to be enough.
After a moment, Finn turns back around and goes inside with the veterinary team. The clip has collected more than 9,000 likes. And the comments are full of people sending him encouragement. One viewer wrote, “Prayers for baby boy,” while another simply said, “So heartbreaking.” Plenty of others were moved by the bond between Finn and his mom.
In a previous video, Kiera explained that Finn is 11 years old and was diagnosed with lymphoma after she noticed lumps on his body. The diagnosis was confirmed three weeks before that post, and the family decided to begin chemotherapy. She said he had responded very well to the treatment so far.
Kiera also shared an important reminder for other dog owners. It is: check your pets for unusual lumps and get them examined early. She said finding Finn’s lumps quickly gave him a better chance of responding to treatment. For now, Finn has his family beside him, a veterinary team they trust, and a mom who is very clearly not going anywhere.
