Tori said Barley “lost her spunk” and “lost her goldenness.” Around the same time, Louie arrived after hatching at an elementary school on Long Island. The duckling was only supposed to stay with the Cannarelli family for a short visit.

However, Louie quickly formed a special bond with Barley. The unlikely pair began spending more time together, growing closer through simple everyday moments. In the segment, the family recalled how Barley started smiling again, wagging her tail, and showing more of her personality.
