Barking is one way to get attention, but Horchata has added his own little routine, just in case it helps someone finally stop. Shared by @brodys_buddies, this video introduces the shelter dog who’s spent an entire year in his kennel, hoping his forever family notices him. Every spin and every wag seems to say the same thing: “Please don’t keep walking.” The heartbreaking part is that he’s still waiting. Even though volunteers already know there’s a sweet, affectionate dog hiding behind all that excitement.
Shelter dog tries to get noticed inside his tiny kennel so he can finally find a home
The video opens with Horchata standing inside his enclosure. He spins around quickly a couple of times, then lets out a bark and immediately performs another tight spin. On-screen text explains this is what he does to try to get noticed. And really, it’s hard not to wonder how many times he’s performed the same hopeful greeting.
A few moments later, the scene shifts outside, and everything about him softens. He happily sticks close to a volunteer, handing out soft kisses and enjoying the fresh air. Another close-up shows him gazing up with bright, hopeful eyes while his tail keeps wagging.
According to the caption, Horchata is around three to four years old. And he simply needs a quiet home where he can finally relax. He would do best as the only pet, giving him the chance to decompress after spending so long in a busy shelter. The rescue also shared that Heart & Soul Dog Rescue is ready to pull him as soon as a committed foster steps forward.
The video has already encouraged lots of viewers to cheer Horchata on. And many are hoping someone opens their home before another year slips by. This shelter dog has done everything he can from inside his kennel. Now all that’s left is for the right person to stop, look his way, and give him the chance he’s been waiting for.
