Golden Retriever turns fetch into a super laid-back activity

A Golden Retriever named Bob has social media users cracking up after showing the world what might be the slowest, and somehow most charming, game of fetch ever recorded. The hilarious clip, shared by Instagram account @thebobandgeorgeshow, captured Bob staring calmly at a bright green tennis ball while his owner attempted to start a normal round of fetch. But Bob clearly had his own version of the game in mind.

Golden Retriever turns fetch into the ultimate lazy-day activity

The video’s caption summed it up perfectly: “Bob presents to you…the most laid-back fetch ever in the history of fetch.” At first, Bob stood near the couch in front of a fireplace, watching the ball with complete seriousness. For a moment, it looked like he might spring into action like most retrievers do. Instead, the golden retriever slowly turned around and casually wandered away after the ball rolled across the room with no excitement.

The camera followed Bob as he slowly wandered around the living room before finally deciding the toy was still worth picking up. Even then, he moved with the same lazy energy, playing one of the most popular dog games ever. People online quickly loved the funny contrast between his breed’s energetic reputation and his completely relaxed personality.

Viewers filled the comments with jokes about Bob’s uniquely unmotivated approach to fetch. “Love the mosey fetch,” one person wrote. Another commenter joked, “That’s a bronze retriever at best. I’m kidding, he’s a winner in my book.” “Regretting putting fetch in his resume,” another viewer teased. One commenter sarcastically added, “Good thing he managed to hold back his excitement.”

The viral video came from the Instagram account @thebobandgeorgeshow, dedicated to golden retrievers Bob and George. According to the profile, the account has more than 11.5K followers and describes itself as “Golden brothers sharing our adventures.” The page also lists the dogs’ birthdays: Bob’s on August 18, 2017, and George’s on July 27, 2018. The bio also lovingly honors another dog named Perry, who lived from 2004 to 2018.
