Annie Kimmelman from @theplantcollective_ shared a deeply moving look at how her family dynamic completely changed when she brought her newborn baby son. She had adopted her Husky pup, Bruce, when he was just five weeks old, which led to him becoming extremely attached to her.
During pregnancy, she spent months worrying that her dramatic, vocal Husky might become jealous of the newborn. Happily, the ultra-protective dog completely defied those expectations the second he finally laid eyes on baby Theo.
Dog ‘anxiously’ attached to pregnant mom doesn’t leave baby’s side, even comforts him
The emotional video starts with security camera footage showing the home’s front porch. Bruce waits by the door holding a toy in his mouth, his tail wagging with frantic energy. The moment his mom steps up carrying the baby carrier, a permanent bond forms. Early clips show the pup peeking through the bassinet netting, looking completely fascinated by the tiny new human moving inside.
From that very first afternoon, the dog grew intensely attached to the little baby and simply refused to leave his side. The video cuts through a beautiful montage of Bruce acting as a full-time security guard for Theo. In one shot, mom rocks the infant in a chair, and a slow camera zoom reveals the pup sitting silently directly behind them.
Bruce regularly sleeps directly under the baby’s cot, with only his nose visible. He watches closely as parents adjust pacifiers, rests his head nearby during couch snuggles, and keeps a watchful eye during nap time.
Nighttime brings an entirely new level of dedication for the furry big brother. Baby monitor footage shows Bruce keeping a night vigil on the floor while the infant sleeps soundly in his crib. On walks, he trots perfectly on his leash while continuously looking up to check on his little brother, who is strapped to mom’s chest.
On the last shot of mom, baby, and dog snuggling on the bed, the in-video text sweetly reads, “raising future best friends.” The clip got over 17.7k views from emotional fans online, as of the time of writing. “Bruce now has a job,” one viewer wrote. Another admitted they were simply “sobbing.”
