Husky Shopping for New Toy at Pet Store Will Make Your Day

In an adorable video shared on Instagram, Mylo, a Siberian Husky, is shopping for his new toy — and his owner is very understanding of the kind of decision-making such moments require. The video, from @mylothe.husky on Instagram, shows Mylo standing at a pet store counter with his forepaws on the edge as he flops his tongue out the side of his mouth like a customer taking his sweet time. The object of his fixation is a lobster-shaped toy that evidently speaks to him.

Owner doesn’t want to rush Husky when he’s shopping for new toy at pet store

The Husky’s owner hangs back, not hurrying the toy shopping, with the on-screen caption explaining, “Not rushing him in the pet store because this is his Sephora.” The video shows that this is a full shopping experience for Mylo that requires inspection and deliberation.

When a dog makes a choice this passionately, it is more than just being cute. Huskies were bred to think independently and to make decisions while pulling sleds across miles of frozen paths without a human telling them what to do. That autonomy shows up everywhere, even in a pet store aisle. Besides, letting a Husky like Mylo pick his own toy is a small act of agency that engages his brain in the right way, even if it is just shopping.

Eventually, Mylo seals the deal and nudges the stuffed toy with purpose, and even reaches his paw out in what looks like an excited attempt to try and get it closer to him. It seems like he can’t wait to get it home. He then backs down from the counter. The caption from the video implies that toy shopping is Mylo’s favorite hobby and the joy rolling off of the Husky says even that may be an understatement.
