Many animals rescued from abusive environments require time, patience, and consistent support to recover physically as well as mentally. For pregnant animals in particular, the stakes are even higher, as their survival directly affects the next generation. A recent video posted by @forgotten_now_family_rescue on Instagram documents the emotional rescue of a pregnant dog just weeks before giving birth to her babies.
Rescue dog saved from fight lot is grateful to see her babies safe now
A pregnant dog named Mya was rescued from a dog-fighting lot where she was reportedly being used for breeding. On-screen text explains that she was only weeks away from delivering puppies that would have likely been raised for the same cruel system.
Early footage shows Mya sitting quietly in a kennel, her body visibly weak and her expression tense. Her condition reflects the neglect she endured without proper veterinary care, repeated breeding, and a stressful environment. According to her rescuers, the moment they first saw her in what they described as a “disgusting hutch,” they knew they had to act quickly.
After being brought to safety, Mya’s condition began to improve gradually. Updates shared in the clip reveal that she gave birth to seven puppies. While the rescue marked a turning point, challenges quickly followed. Her rescuers noted that her body remained fragile due to years of overbreeding, and the puppies were born weak.
Despite this, Mya has shown strong maternal instincts. Footage shows her lying beside her newborns, allowing them to feed and staying close. Moreover, on-screen captions describe her as trying her best to care for them, even as her own recovery continues.
Complications arose when two of the puppies fell seriously ill. Following veterinary advice, they were separated from the rest of the litter and placed under round-the-clock care. One puppy developed a large abscess, while another showed signs of infection, requiring immediate medical attention. The rescue team began bottle-feeding them and closely monitoring their condition.
The rescue organization also revealed that Mya will be staying at a senior team member’s home for closer monitoring. They emphasized that her recovery will take time, and the situation has placed a significant financial strain on their resources, especially after rescuing multiple dogs from the same location.
